Tampa, FL - Training Instructor / C.I. Facilitator

Summary Description Of Position

  • This position is responsible for employment, safety, and skills development proficiency training related to the repair of aircraft.
  • Conduct training related to maintenance documentation, company policies, and procedures, safety, and FAA regulations.
  • Schedules courses, creates rosters, certificates records, and updates as needed.
  • Must exercise good judgment and have exceptional interpersonal skills in a team environment.
  • Serve as a mentor to new employees.
  • Assemble and administer Training and Qualifications as directed.
  • Identify areas of improvement with emphasis on Processes, Time Savings, Monetary savings, and Quality.
  • Build, Train, Facilitate, and Guide, Continuous Improvement teams in all departments, within Airborne Maintenance, to produce dramatic and achievable improvements.
  • Perform inspections of areas and processes, and rate them for compliance and effectiveness.
  • Provide metrics to study and steer the improvements.
  • Champion the CI and Lean methods within our Company.

Minimum Requirements And Qualifications

  1. A&P or A FAA license required.
  2. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  3. Experience in FAR 121 or 145 environments as a technician, inspector, or maintenance instructor. (A320 Family, or B737, B757, B767 preferred.)
  4. Must have completed General Familiarization courses on at least one of the aircraft types.
  5. Must have proven good judgment, and exceptional interpersonal skills in a team environment.
  6. MS Office
    1. Ability to create graphs and charts in MS Excel.
    2. Proficient in the creation of Power Point Presentations.
  7. Must be able to effectively speak, read, and write in the English language.
  8. Must have a good knowledge of FAA regulations and ATA specifications as they relate to aircraft maintenance, and training.
  9. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  10. Ability to perform public speaking in a natural and comfortable manner.
  11. Must have good leadership skills and qualities.
  12. Strong written and communication skills
  13. Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
  14. Must have good facilitator skills as well as good listening skills.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  1. Some Aircraft  Repair experience,
  2. Previous Aircraft Maintenance training experience,
  3. Completed Gen Fams for other Boeing, Airbus, and other aircraft makes and models.
  4. Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and explain aircraft structural drawings.
  5. Experience in CI and Lean is a plus.

Major Responsibility Areas And Duties

  1. Develop training plans and curriculum to achieve targeted objectives.
  2. Conducting ongoing needs assessments to identify/determine training requirements.
  3. Using internal and external resources (Airborne Trainers and/or outside vendors) to meet training needs.
  4. Scheduling company training such as new hire indoc, recurrent, and Customer required training
  5. Ensuring the appropriate entries are made into the electronic database and document all training and certifications of Airborne employees.
  6. Remain current on new training approaches, techniques, trends, and professional training associations.
  7. Mentor students and serve as an example of a model employee for the company.
  8. Assist and direct students to help them obtain an FAA Repairman’s certificate.
  9. Assist in training Continuous Improvement concepts and processes to new teams in all departments.
  10. Assist in planning the utilization of facilities, equipment, materials, and personnel to improve efficiency of operations.
  11. Confer with Departmental management to put corrections in place to fix problems as identified by their internal staff.
  12. Assist C.I. Teams in procurement, placement, implementation, and support of their C.I. projects.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Director.

Physical Requirements And Environmental Conditions

  1. Ability to perform work utilizing a computer for extended periods of time.
  2. Ability to sit for extended periods of time in a normal office environment.
  3. Ability to stand and speak to large groups of personnel for an extended amount of time.
  4. Minimal off shift and weekend assignments may be required when needed.
  5. Ability to operate and train sheet metal fabrication and safety equipment necessary to perform the job.
