Aircraft Electronics Apprentice II

What you will do:

Graduate of AMES Aircraft Electronic formal 8-week training & mentored Apprentice I formal program.  Assigned to a production supervisor who provides daily oversite of and exposure to aircraft electronic repair assignments geared toward continual development & demonstration of electronic repair skills necessary to qualify for Aircraft Electronic Technician (Unlicensed).

 

What you need:

  • Successful completion of AMES 16 weeks of formal Aircraft Electronics Trainee classroom program & mentorship assignment.
  • Recommendation for promotion from the assigned Mentor & department Supervisor.
  • Demonstrates electronic repair skills through satisfactory completion of the Aircraft Electronic Technician Assessment project
  • Demonstrates fine motor skills, manual dexterity & attention to detail
  • Demonstrates problem solving and creative thinking skills
  • Demonstrates ability to follow written & verbal directions, to interpret diagrams, and to correct errors
  • Demonstrates desire to learn trade of Aircraft Electronic repair
  • Demonstrates ability & willingness to practice safe work procedures
  • Demonstrates ability to precisely manipulate hand tools in a variety of situations
  • Working knowledge of aircraft construction and repair principles
  • Basic computer proficiency accessing digital manuals, training materials, regulations, etc.

 

Preferred Job Skills:

  • Previous work experience in a maintenance or skilled trade environment
  • Previous experience interpreting diagrams and technical documentation or directions
  • Previous experience using hand tools
  • Prior hands-on experience in a heavy maintenance environment
  • Prior experience at a FAR Part 145 repair station

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to twist, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl and climb and sustain those positions for an extended period of time
  • Ability to work at heights up to 80 feet
  • Ability to work with arms raised above head and perform repetitive tasks and motions
  • Ability to fit in tight places
  • Ability to work in confined spaces with respiratory equipment
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions
  • Ability to precisely manipulate hand tools in a variety of situations
